Quick Sunday Trip

Today, Tania had a baby shower in Jenson. She doesn’t like to drive here in Florida, so she asked me to take her. She pointed out the baby shower was close to the Jenson Beach Causeway, so I could bring a rod or two and go fishing for the few hours as she was at the shower. How could I turn her logic down.

I dropped Tania off and made it to Jenson Beach Causeway just after 1:00pm. Today I was jigging with a goofy jig tipped with Power Lime Crab Fishbites. I was told I could possibly catch some pompano doing this.

There were four other folks fishing and as I walked past, I asked how they had been doing. Two of them said they just got there and the other two said it has been a slow day. I continued to walk past everyone as I did not want to crowd anyone.

I set my alarm for 2:30pm, to ensure I would not be late picking up Tania at 3:00pm. From 1:00pm to about 2:15pm no one caught anything. I used this time to reflect and say a prayer. While I was waiting for a bite, I was blessed with a pod of dolphins feeding. I ended up watching them for about 20 minutes.

Right around 2:15pm the guy next to me caught two small blue runners at the same time. While he was taking his fish off, I caught my first fish. I ended up catching a puffer.  Shortly after I caught another puffer. I was grateful I did not get skunked.

My alarm went off at 2:30pm and I started packing up to head to the car. While I was walking off the bridge, the pompano bite turned on. One of the other fishermen caught two while I was walking off the bridge.

I was sad I had to leave when the bite turned on, but I was feeling blessed to have had the opportunity to fish at all today! I pray all who made it out over the weekend had a safe and blessed trip. I pray for those who are going out this week. May you have a safe trip with tight lines!
