Salt Strong Treasure Coast Chapter Meeting

Greetings, fellow fishing enthusiasts! We’re excited to share a recap of the recent Salt Strong Treasure Coast Chapter meeting on 8/24/2023. The gathering was a great success, with around 30 dedicated anglers at Synergy Magnet School in Fort Pierce to celebrate our love for fishing and our coastal waters.

A Warm Welcome:

The meeting kicked off with a warm welcome from our Chapter President, Walt, and an opening prayer by Mike Schulze. The energy in the room was palpable as old friends reconnected and new friendships were formed. It’s heartwarming to see such a passionate community united by the thrill of the catch.

Inspiring Insights from Captain Mike Holliday:

A true highlight of the evening was the presence of Captain Mike Holliday from Captains for Clean Water. Captain Holliday’s presentation had everyone engaged and inspired. He shed light on the critical importance of clean water in our coastal ecosystems. His talk was a reminder that, as anglers, we enjoy the thrill of fishing and are responsible for protecting the waters that sustain the fish we chase.

Celebrating Angler Achievements:

The meeting took an exciting turn as we celebrated the winners of the latest fishing tournament. Let’s give a round of applause to our winners:

First Place: Vern Schaejbe, who took home the top prize of $100.

Second Place: Mike Schulze secured the second spot and won $65.

Third Place: Tania, showing her prowess and walking away with $35.

These anglers shared where and how they caught the fish for the tournament.

Gear Up for the September Tournament:

As one tournament ends, another begins! Our upcoming tournament for September promises new challenges and thrilling catches. This month’s entry fee was $10, and participants got three chances to prove their angling prowess. Mark your calendars – the tournament will run from September 1st to September 15th.

In September, the spotlight is on all fish species except catfish. All catches must be made using Salt Strong lures to make things even more exciting. This rule adds an extra layer of strategy to the competition, as anglers select their lures wisely to attract their target species.

Uniting for a Better Tomorrow:

Beyond the thrill of the tournament and the joy of fishing, our chapter is committed to making a positive impact. During the meeting, we shared upcoming plans for community events and collaborative efforts with local conservation groups. Our dedication to preserving the beauty of our waters is as strong as our passion for fishing.

Closing Thoughts:

As the meeting drew close, Walt, our Chapter President, thanked everyone for their attendance and involvement. He encouraged attendees to spread the word about our chapter’s activities and to keep the spirit of camaraderie alive.

Stay tuned for more updates, and best of luck to all participants in the upcoming September tournament. Let’s continue to fish responsibly, respect our waters, and make memories that will last a lifetime.
