As I sat by the window, the rustle of the wind through the trees brought back vivid memories of a remarkable day spent on the beach with my wife, Tania. It was the 11th of December in 2021, a day etched in my mind as we set out to catch some pompano. I hope you all enjoy the tale!

Tania and I decided to hit the beach today and target some pompano. The high tide was about 2:00 p.m., so we arrived around 11:00 a.m. When we arrived, the beach was packed. I don’t believe I have ever seen this many fishermen on the beach at the same time. As far as the eye could see, north and south, people were fishing. I figured the bite must be hot with so many folks on the beach.

We found a spot close to the entrance. I was grateful we didn’t have to hike a mile down the beach to find a spot. We got set up and had wet lines by 11:30 a.m. We had our first fish, a short pompano, by 11:35 a.m. I was happy to have the targeted species landed so quickly into our trip. Shortly after we started fishing, our friend Michael Lawson walked up and said hello. He had been fishing all morning and was just north of us.

Over the next few hours, we caught 15 pompanos and one whiting. Out of all the fish, we only had three keeper pompanos. Overall, we had a few great hours relaxing on the beach. I love spending time with my best friend!
