Tania and I could not go fishing this week due to my men’s group Christmas party. When we are unable to go fishing, I reflect on previous fishing trips with Tania. One of those memories was when I caught my personal best (PB) redfish in 2018. Join me as I reminisce on our memorable fishing trip with my best friend and wife, Tania.

On the crisp morning of December 29, 2018, Tania Schulze and I set off on an unforgettable fishing trip that would forever etch itself into our memories. The sun was beginning to glow warmly over the waters as we left the dock, anticipation bubbling in the air. Little did we know that this day I would catch my PB redfish.

As we moved from spot to spot, nature put on a show for us. Majestic dolphins gracefully played, a gentle sea turtle glided by, and the sight of manatees lazily basking in the sun added an enchanting touch to the morning. We both love seeing God’s creations all around us!

Today was a great day on the water. We caught lots of snapper, a snook, a black drum, a sheepshead, my PB redfish, and a blue runner. Unfortunately, Tania lost the largest fish of the day right at the boat. Before I could net the bull redfish, it spit the hook. Despite the loss, the image of that massive redfish remains etched in our minds—it was, without a doubt, one of the fattest fish we had ever seen. It was heartbreaking ending our day on this loss, but we decided to come back the next day to try and catch the one that got away.

The December 29th fishing trip with Tania was not merely a day on the water but a symphony of nature, a triumph of personal records, and an unwavering resolve to chase the elusive catch. As we prepared for another day on the water, the memories of this extraordinary fishing expedition lingered and would forever be cherished.
