Salt Strong Treasure Coast Chapter Meeting Minutes
Date: September 23, 2024
Location: 2nd Street Bistro, Fort Pierce, FL
Time: 6:30 PM

Opening:
The meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM by Chapter President, Mike Schulze. There was a lot of excitement as members gathered, with many arriving early to order meals before the meeting began. Mike opened the meeting with a prayer.

Fish Stories:
Mike then invited members to share their fish stories. Although the crowd was initially hesitant, once one member shared, it sparked a wave of storytelling, creating a lively atmosphere.

Guest Speaker:
Bill Olson, the Guest Speaker Coordinator, introduced the evening’s guest speaker, Captain B, a seasoned surf fishing charter captain. Captain B gave an engaging presentation on fishing the beach during the mullet run, focusing on targeting snook and tarpon. He followed up by discussing set fishing techniques. Members were highly engaged and asked many questions throughout the presentation.

Tournament Announcements:
While Tournament Coordinator Mike Charbeneau was setting up to announce the September tournament winners, Mike Schulze took a moment to recognize the guests in attendance. There were 3 guests, and 10 attendees were attending their first meeting.

The September tournament winners were then announced:

• 1st Place: Mike Hitsman, winning $50
• 2nd Place: Mike Schulze, winning $30
• 3rd Place: Mike Charbeneau, winning $20

It was humorously noted that all the winners were named Mike. Additionally, Mike Hitsman was awarded the Dink Award for catching what was likely the smallest flounder any of the members had ever seen, though Wayne Purvis and Mike Charbeneau were close contenders.

Mike Charbeneau proceeded to announce the rules for the upcoming October tournament.

Upcoming Events & Chapter Schedule:
The Reel Blessed Chapter will be holding a Surf Fishing Event on October 5, 2024, and members were invited to volunteer to assist families in learning how to fish.

The chapter schedule for the remainder of the year was also announced:

• Next meeting: October 28, 2024
• No meeting in November due to Thanksgiving
• Final meeting of 2024: December 14, 2024, featuring a holiday pig roast and potluck.

The meeting concluded after the announcements, and members stayed to mingle and enjoy the evening.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 PM.
