After a few weeks of being busy, I finally carved out an hour to fish the spillway by my house, and it did not disappoint! I brought my trusty Zebco 33 loaded up with Crappie Max bait and a 1/16 oz jig head. The bite was on fire right from the start!

In the first two casts, I had solid hits. On the third cast, I landed a decent Mayan cichlid! 🎣 Next up, a 12-inch bass that put up a great fight. The action stayed hot, but the next four bass I hooked managed to shake off before I could reel them in. Finally, I wrapped up with a feisty redear sunfish.

Not a bad hour of fishing at all! All the fish fought like champs on the light tackle. Moments like these make getting back on the water feel so worth it!
