Fish Story of a Lifetime!

In October of last year, I had one of my fishing reports go viral. I had a mix of comments, good and bad. Since I have not been fishing since my last report, I thought I would share the story and see what you all think.

Today Tania and I sat at Blue Heron beach from 7:30am to about 12:30pm with little action. To be honest Tania had one bite and caught one catfish, which was taken by a shark.

Tania and I always pray on our drive to fishing, where we ask for safety, our eyes to be opened to see his creations and a bountiful catch if it is His will. By about noon, I had given up hope of catching anything to bring home. I said one last prayer to let us go home with at least one fish for supper.

Shortly after I said my prayer a bunch of bait fish showed up and the Spanish Mackerel were tearing them up. I spent about 15 minutes throwing everything I had including a paddle tail, a gotcha plug and a silver spoon to try and catch one of them. I couldn’t believe I didn’t get a bite with how thick they were.

Finally, I had given up and turned back to Tania to pack up and go home. I was somewhat defeated to be honest. Just as I turned around, Tania started yelling at me. I turned back to see a 24in Spanish Mackerel beaching itself right in front of us. I ran up and grabbed the fish!

To me this was God providing a meal for us. I know people say that fish beach themselves quit often when they are chasing bait, but one cannot deny my prayer was answered.

Tania and I are truly blessed, and God provided a fish for us to go home with! I hope you liked this story. Let me know what your thoughts are? Was this a fish story of a lifetime? I pray all who make it out the rest of the week have tight lines.

The self-beaching fish probably had brain parasites, but no problem if you cooked it.

It was chasing bait fish so don’t think it was sick. But it was cooked good and tasted great!
