Work was a bit slow this week due to the weather. On Friday I left the office early and headed home to finish my day off. Once home I took an hour to try my luck at a local pond. The pond off NW St. James Drive, south of Publix on the east side of the road.
As I walked up it was very promising as I saw multiple large Tilapia and they appeared to be bedding. I was throwing a 1/16oz Road Runner Jig, I believe pumpkin color. Unfortunately, I walked around the entire pond and didn’t even get a bite.
At this point I went to the spillway at the canal across the street to see if I would have any luck. It started off a bit slow. It took me about 5 minutes before I got my first bite; however, I lost whatever I hooked before I saw it. Shortly after my first bite, I landed a cichlid. I ended up landing another cichlid before I decided to fish above the spillway.
My first cast, I landed a bass. I was excited to have finally landed the targeted species. A few more cast I landed a slightly larger bass. I fished another 15 minutes without another bite, but I had to head home anyways.
I was blessed to have caught fish with only an hour to throw baits. Once home I had to get the car packed up for Reel Blessed Event Tania and I were hosting on Saturday. Tania and I pray all who made it out over the weekend had tight lines and good times. May all who are going out this week have blessed and safe trips!
