Today, as I reflect on my time in Iraq from 2003 to 2004, I am reminded of the strength, courage, and sacrifices made by so many who stood beside me. This day is about honoring each of those brave men and women who have given up so much in the name of freedom. For many of us, the journey didn’t end when we came home – we continue to carry the memories and challenges that came from our service.
As a disabled vet, I am grateful for the resilience and hope God provides each day. Isaiah 40:31 says, “But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.” That hope is what has carried me through and given me purpose beyond my time in uniform.
To all my brothers and sisters in arms, thank you. Let’s continue to support one another, lifting each other up in prayer and sharing the bond of those who have served. May God bless our veterans and this country we hold dear.
