On Saturday, Reel Blessed chapter of Fishing’s Future teamed up with the Port Saint Lucie Anglers Club to help stock the Port Saint Lucie Botanical Gardens Pond. We are stocking the pond to ensure there are plenty of fish for the upcoming fishing events. The PSL Anglers Club is hosting a kid fishing tournament March 11th and Reel Blessed is hosting our first event of the 2023 Vamos A Pescar on March 25th at the Botanical Gardens.
We meet up at Ron Schmidt’s house and fished from 10:00am – 1:00pm. PSL Anglers had Steve Holden, Neil Harder, Dave Bricky, Ron Schmidt, Frank Gamber, and Dave Budnick and representing Reel Blessed were Doug and Douglas Shaw and myself. Although I am also a member of PSL Anglers, so I am a dual representative!
We ended up catching 15 Large Mouth Bass, 12 Mayan Chiliads, and 32 Bluegill in the 3 hours we fished. The bite went in spurts where we would catch several fish then we would have a slow spell. Doug caught the big bass of the day, it was 3.2lbs. I lost a Snook right at the bank. The snook swallowed one of the Bluegill I was bringing in and spit it out as I was trying to pull it onto the bank.
All in all, it was a day doing some background work to help ensure our youth in Port Saint Lucie have a good day fishing. If you are interested The PSL Anglers are currently looking for sponsors for the kid’s fishing tournament as a few of their normal sponsors has to back out at the last minute. If you would like to help out with sponsorship or as a volunteer contact me. If you would like to see more about Reel Blessed and what we stand for click the link below.
Tania and I pray all who made it out this past weekend had a blessed and safe trip. We also pray for those who are going this week, may you have a safe trip, tight lines, and good times.
