On Thursday April 27, 2023, The Treasure Coast Chapter of Salt Strong held our first ever chapter meeting. It was held Coconut Marina Club House. All the officers met up about 5:30pm to prepare for the meeting to start at 6:30pm. We had 50 people RSVP so I was excited to see the turnout.

We had Joe and Luke Simonds, Mark Dunnan, and Captain Peter Deeks present to launch our first meeting. We also had Captain Bo Samuel with Pullin’ Drag Charters as our guest speaker. For those of you who don’t know Pullin Drag Charters is based out of Little Jim’s in Fort Pierce who always puts his clients on the fish. He specializes in meat fishing, so during snook season he will target slot snook and when snook season is closed he will mostly target bottom fish and is known for catching sheepshead in January and February time frame. The event started a little after 6:30 as we wanted to give everyone a chance to meet Joe and Luke. The President of the chapter, Taylor Shull, introduced Joe and then Joe opened up our event with a prayer followed by a brief story of how Salt Strong got started in 2015 and how humbled he is by its growth.

After Joe’s opening, Taylor introduced himself and then introduced our guest speaker Captain Bo! Captain Bo spoke for roughly 30 minutes. It was great hearing some intel from a local charter Captain who has fished Ft Pierce his whole life. Once Captain Bo was complete, I took the floor as the Conservation/Community Coordinator. I started off by introducing all the other officers, and then I spoke to the chapter about Reel Blessed Chapter of Fishing’s Future and asked for the chapter to volunteer at our events as our community service.

Once I had finished, we wrapped up the meeting with the 50/50 raffle and a raffle for an Engels 13qrt bait cooler with an aerator. Once the raffles were completed, we closed the meeting out and allowed people to fellowship with each other.  We ended up closing the doors about 9:00pm, we could have stayed all night but the Salt Strong Team had a long drive back home so we encouraged everyone to say goodnight.

It was great meeting up with Joe, Luke, Captain Peter Deeks, and Mark Dunnan as well as all the insiders. We had a total of 28 insiders show up. We believe the foul weather probably deterred some from making the drive. It was great seeing the fellowship and friendships forming. These chapters are what it’s all about, friendships and memories!

The Chapter meetings are for Salt Strong Insiders and will be held the last Thursday of the month. Our next meeting will be held on May 25^th at 6:30pm. The venue is TBD at the moment as we have already outgrown the venue, we had last night. Looking forward to meeting more insider members and continuing to grow our chapter!

The Treasure Coast Chapter of Salt Strong held our first event will be April 27, 2023. We will meet the last Thursday of every month. The next meeting will be May 25^th.
