Tania and I were in Saint Augustine since Wednesday. As most of you know Tania has not been feeling the best lately. Well, we had an appointment at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, so we made a short vacation out of it. We did not get all the answers we were hoping for on Friday however we got the good news that she does not need a liver transplant at the moment. There are many more tests that need to be done but we feel we are in good hands.
With that being said Tania and I didn’t really go fishing this weekend, but my buddy Captain Ed did make it out. He made a quick trip to the boils with a few of his buddies. I hope you like Captain Ed’s report.
After a two-week hiatus due to bad weather, I was itching to get back out on the water for some fishing. While I usually reserve my fishing trips for weekdays, the beautiful weather on Saturday was too tempting to resist. So, I quickly called up my fishing buddies John and Bruce to see if they were available for a spontaneous fishing trip.
The three of us met up at the dock at 9:00am and set off south towards the boils. Unfortunately, the water in the area was quite murky, but we still managed to spot a lot of fish on the sonar. The bite, however, was disappointingly slow. Despite this, we still managed to catch a 10lb drum, two pompano, and three large croakers. We also hooked into a few big fish, but unfortunately, they managed to slip away before we could bring them aboard. We also saw some sharks during the trip, as evidenced by the partial jack I managed to land.
By noon, we had decided to call it a day and head back home with enough fish for a delicious dinner. It was great to finally be back on the water and enjoying some fishing after the long stretch of bad weather.
Tania and I pray all who made it out this past weekend had a blessed and safe trip with tight lines. Those who are heading out this week may you have tight lines with good times!
