Tania and I decided to spend our Sunday afternoon fishing. It was a beautiful day with but it was a bit windy. We began our fishing adventure at the spillway near our house. Due to the rain the night before the spillway was flowing, so we were both excited to see what we would catch.
Tania was the first to cast her line, and within minutes, she had caught a large mouth sleeper fish. We had never seen one before so I had to ask for a fish ID. We spend about 30 minutes fishing the spillway and I didn’t have any luck. Tania, on the other hand, continued to reel in fish after fish. She caught a largemouth bass and then a snook. It was incredible to see her reel in such a variety of fish. I couldn’t help but feel a little envious of her success.
After the spillway, we decided to move on to White City Park. We fished there for about 30 minutes, but unfortunately, we didn’t catch anything. It was disappointing, but we didn’t let it get us down. We were determined to catch more fish.
Next, we went to the savannas. The first spot we tried; Tania caught a chain pickerel. It was a beautiful fish with its green and gold scales shimmering in the sunlight. Unfortunately, that was all we caught at that spot. Tania was ready to call it a day, but we still had some live shiners so I dropped her off at home and headed back to the spillway.
When I arrived, there was a family already fishing there. I noticed they were fishing with worms and small hooks to catch pan fish. When I pulled up, they were on the opposite side of the spillway I normally fish, and I asked them if they mind if I fish there also. They said it was fine. Within about five minutes I caught 2 decent bass.
I still had about half a dozen shiners left, and I was ready to head home since I finally caught a few fish. With that being said, I decided to give the leftover bait to the family. They did not have any circle hooks so I gave them my circle hooks. It didn’t take long for the one gentleman to land a snook. They told me they had never caught a snook and were excited they finally caught one. It felt good to be able to help them out.
Overall, it was a successful day of fishing. Tania and I caught a variety of fish, and I was able to help out a family who was struggling to catch anything. It’s always a great feeling to be able to share our passion for fishing with others and help them enjoy it as much as we do. We can’t wait to go out and fish again soon.
Tania and I pray all who make it out the rest of the week have blessed and safe trips. May you all have tight lines and good times!
